How time flies.
39 years ago today, Paul Henderson scored with 34 seconds remaining in game 8 of the 1972 Summit Series, and a nation cheered. I know I did.
I saw this game by myself, in my little apartment in Sudbury, and I celebrated like so many other Canadians as the boys pulled it out when it looked like they wouldn’t.
But I don’t want to get into this too deeply. It’s only the 39th anniversary. Next year, the 40th, I might do something a bit bigger.
I paid $200 several years ago for the ticket you see below, and it’s worth more than $2000 now. It’s from game 8, the Henderson goal night.
Did you know that the Soviet players who weren’t dressed for this game at Luzhniki in Moscow weren’t allowed in unless they had a ticket. So several didn’t see it.
